Metales Casados Bench

$6,900.00

Metales Casados Bench

A sculptural statement grounded in warmth and material poetry, the Metales Casados Bench draws inspiration from the mid-century Mexican tradition of metales casados—the art of marrying metals. Crafted in richly figured African mahogany, the bench’s sides are inlaid with a constellation of solid brass, copper, and aluminum rods and tubes that pierce fully through the piece, catching and refracting light in subtle, ever-changing ways.

The mahogany itself brings a unique presence—an African hardwood known for its high silica content, which contributes to its distinctive chatoyancy, a fiery, iridescent shimmer that shifts with the angle of light. This natural brilliance echoes the glow of the inlaid metals, creating a quiet interplay between wood and metal, craft and nature.

Finished to a satin luster with Danish hard wax oil, the wood surface is both durable and touchably smooth, enhancing the depth of grain while offering lasting protection. The form is refined yet tactile, softened by a plush cream boucle cushion that invites comfort.

Whether placed in an entryway, at the foot of a bed, or used as a functional sculpture in a living space, the Metales Casados Bench is a celebration of elemental beauty and timeless craftsmanship.
